About Me

My photo
Elliott Hedman
Elliott Hedman is a research assistant working on his PhD in the MIT Media Laboratory's Affective Computing group under the direction of Rosalind Picard. He helps organizations build better empathy with their customers. Developing new technologies that measure physiological arousal in real time, Elliott has measured anxiety, stress, and excitement. He uses these sensors to better understand the emotions of children playing with LEGO bricks, employees at a bank, and children with autism in therapy. His findings suggest that physiological signals provide a strong foundation for introspection – helping people communicate their feelings that are both difficult to observe and express. Elliott received his B.S. in Electrical Computer Engineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder and is a Junior International Snow Sculpture Champion.
